An issue that matters to me is [youth] leadership. As I observed the leadership pursuits of my peers, I saw how easily good intentioned-leaders became corrupted leaders, and how charismatic leaders became narcissistic. Some leaders that I admire in history are Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela who not only voiced the many injustices against people of African descent, but who also called for equality for all. Whenever I look at the sadness of the world, such as poverty, crime, abuse and all other atrocities and notice that there are some people who are still determined to make our lives better. On my own perspective, I believe everyone is a leader. This is because leadership begins in our homes – that’s where we exhibit leadership qualities; care, tolerance, openness, etc. Every leader should be able to live a positive and exemplary life. As young people and leaders, it is bound on us to impact our communities positively starting at youthful age.
